See them daily at Tiger Crossroads
Bulan, Kirana and Zara can now be seen at Tiger Crossroads! The cubs and mom, Anne, will be out daily although weather and animal care factors may occasionally prevent the cubs from being outside. These are the first Sumatran tigers to be born at Nashville Zoo. Anne gave birth to the cubs on the evening of October 20, 2023.
Sumatran tigers are native to the rainforests of Indonesia and are critically endangered due to habitat loss and poaching. With an estimated 400 to 600 Sumatran tigers left in the wild, each birth is vital for conserving this species.
We participate in the Sumatran Tiger Species Survival Plan (SSP ®), an organization that helps to ensure genetically diverse tiger populations in human care. In addition to participating in the SSP®, we donate to the Tiger Conservation Campaign, an organization working to save wild tiger populations by addressing poaching, tiger-human conflict and the tiger trade.
